Old Man Logan is a version of James Howlett, more commonly known as Wolverine, from an alternate future timeline in the Marvel Comics universe. He first appeared in the 2008 storyline "Old Man Logan" by Mark Millar and Steve McNiven.
In this dystopian future, the supervillains have triumphed, dividing the United States into territories. Wolverine, haunted by a past where he was tricked into murdering his fellow X-Men, has adopted a pacifist lifestyle, vowing to never use his claws again.
Living with his family on a farm in Sacramento, now Hulkland, Logan is forced to take on a mysterious job from a blind Hawkeye to pay off debts to the Hulk Gang. This job involves transporting a package across the ravaged landscape, a journey that forces Logan to confront his past and embrace his violent nature once more.
While initially reluctant, the dire circumstances and threats to his family compel him to unleash his healing factor and adamantium claws, becoming the Wolverine once again, albeit an older, wearier version grappling with regret and a desire for redemption. He eventually becomes a refugee in the main Marvel universe, seeking a better future and determined to prevent his dark timeline from ever coming to pass.
